So this was my New Year's Eve

I don't know what happened either. Happy New Year.

Night/Light

I'm going to submit some work for a jurored art show, the only requirements are that I reside in the bay area, the pictures were shot within the last five years, and they take place between sunset and sunrise. I began digging through my photo albums last night, and good lord, I've shot thousands of images in that time frame. The task was to pull out what I thought were decent night shots. There were around 30 images. I shuffled through the stack and got rid of around ten. I then laid them out and tried to group them together, removing those that really didn't seem to fit with the rest of the work. I was able to narrow it down to 13. Now the task is to get it down to ten or less.

I've posted a bunch for your viewing enjoyment and I welcome thoughts and comments. I will have to update this later because digging through my flickr account I seem to have forgotten to upload like half of the images I wanted to post. Click the images for a larger view, I especially recommend doing that for the fire hydrant picture.

The thing I've really been fighting with myself over is how to present these. Almost all the work I've exhibited previously have been darkroom prints and I pride myself on still being able to do that and in a way being a holdout, or old school, refusing to move on to new technology. Unfortunately, the time and cost to print these myself is pretty prohibitive and I wouldn't be able to print color either. I think I've decided that once I narrow my selections down I will get the negatives scanned at a higher resolution and if I'm selected to be in the show I can just get them printed. All of these posted are unaltered low res negative scans, I plan to do just a little bit of clean-up in photoshop (gotta get any dust spots out) and present them as is, no other cropping or changing anything that is on the negative.
